Oris Aigbokhaevbolo
Oris Aigbokhaevbolo is a culture critic and writer. He wrote a humour column for a year, and has written about comic books, Nollywood and visual art. His film and music reviews have appeared in all of the major Nigerian papers. He is currently the West African editor of the Music in Africa website. (www.musicinafrica.net)
In 2014, he became the first critic to be accepted for the film critic academies in Berlin, Rotterdam and Durban in the same year. He has appeared in The African Report, Chimurenga and the Guardian UK. And in 2015, won the All Africa Music Awards trophy for Music/Entertainment Journalism.
Work
A collection of literary essays on Nigerian pop music. With a working title of 20 Nigerians Singing, an artist will be covered per chapter in what is ultimately a work combining literature and pop music.
Oris Aigbokhaevbolo will be writer-in-residence on the island of Sylt from October 2016 until early January 2017.
